Saanich Peninsula Fine Art Show

So it’s been quiet in blog land while I have been busy in the studio. In the next few weeks I will be participating in two different shows. The first one coming up April 30 – May 1 is the Saanich Peninsula Art Council’s annual fine art show that is being held at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney. If you are on Vancouver Island I invite you to come by for a visit.

Our studio and gallery will remain open as well, although most of my work will be with me in Sidney.

The week following Sidney I will be the guest artist at the Salt Spring Island Potters guild annual show. More to follow….

International Tea Day

Happy International Tea Day! As we are getting ready to open the studio and tea gallery for the day, here is a little reminder of the teapot draw that will happen later today. I also encourage everyone to enjoy a fairly traded cup of tea. International Tea Day was established in honour of tea workers and their plight for improved living and working conditions. Let’s celebrate tea and the workers that facilitate our enjoyment!

a special teapot

After a very busy teapot season, I am now working on a number of new creations. The plan is to have them ready for Circle Craft in Vancouver in mid November. Keeping in mind different tastes and needs, there will be short pots and tall pots, round pots and square pots. If you are considering treating yourself to an original handbuilt teapot this year, please let me know before early November and I will still be able to accommodate your special wishes. Give me a call or send me a line and let me know what type of teapot suits your fancy.

Getting ready for Circle Craft

This has been one of the busiest season we have ever had at the studio and farm. It has been so much fun meeting people from all over the world. We are still in the process of building our farm and our tea and clay gallery. And we are enjoying the process of making it happen.
My hands are elbow-deep in clay these days while I gear up for the Circle Craft Fair in Vancouver and Out-of-Hand in Victoria, both at the end of November. It’s crunch time and I am trying to get as much creative time in as possible.
Here is a quick look at what’s cooking in the studio….

allow me to introduce….

my two canine studio buddies. Sigi and Gus are standard dachshunds and a great inspiration for clay creations.
Sigi is our resident senior citizen. He still runs the show. Gus is our little work bee and farm dog. He keeps us wonderfully entertained.
