Make a pair of Mugs or a Set of Tumblers

Wednesday  October 29th to November 19th, 2025 1:00 - 3:00pm

This 4-week, introductory handbuilding class will focus on mugs and tumblers. You will explore the three main hand building techniques, slab, coil and pinch and we will focus on building mugs using the slab method.

You will get to familiarise yourself with the amazing properties of clay, and we will look at some of its properties and some of its limitations. Touch, feel, form and shape what goes into creating one of our most treasured and used utensils, the mug or the cup. We will explore the different ways handles are made and attached.

The first three classes will focus on designing and finishing our mugs. The last class will be a glazing class. 

No previous handbuilding skills required.
Cost is $200 +GST and includes four weeks of learning, clay, two firings and glazes.

Please bring your own apron or an old t-shirt.
